Join Camp Belle Wood for an unforgettable summer of horseback riding, learning, and fun! Our 2025 sessions offer expert instruction, safety, and skill development for young riders. Camp Belle Wood March Break & Summer Day Camp Since 2008 A Week of Riding, Learning & Fun! Join us for a week of horse filled fun! Campers participate in two daily riding lessons with our coaches & instructors, learn horsemanship and participate in fun activities and crafts! Our coaches group campers according to their age and experience level- this allows for both beginners and intermediate riders the ability to enjoy camp! Our camps follow vital points from the Equestrian Canada Learn to Ride Program (See our Lessons page for a link to learn more about this program). Join us for a week of pony fun! Campers participate in two daily riding lessons with our coaches & instructors, learn horsemanship and participate in fun activities and crafts! Our coaches group campers according to their age and experience level- this allows for both beginners and intermediate riders the ability to enjoy camp! Our coaches are all licensed and certified with the Ontario Equestrian. At Belle Wood, we focus on horsemanship activities and stable management to create a strong foundation for riders to work safely around horses, grooming techniques, the responsibility for daily horse care, how to look after tack and equipment and understanding how to properly handle and work around a horse. To register, please see the links below or email info@bellewoodeq.com March Break Camp Registration Summer Camp Registration Camp Activities & Program Two Riding Lessons Per Day Lessons will allow beginner riders to develop introductory walk/trot skills and gain confidence both on and around the horse. Riders with experience will work towards advancing and improving their current riding skill set and learning new horsemanship skills. Horsemanship & Stable Management When campers are not on a horse, they will be participating in horsemanship activities and stable management to create a strong foundation for students with safety around horses, grooming techniques, general horse care and understanding tack and equipment. Crafts & Games Enjoy horse-related crafts and games! Crafts and Games are set up as a station while the kids rotate between lessons. We also allow the kids some "free time" during lunchtime to unwind and enjoy the activities. Parent Showcase The week concludes with a special Friday afternoon show where campers demonstrate their new skills! Invitations are handed out each Thursday. 2026 Camp Information March Break: Our March Break Camp follows our Summer Camp programming with a wintery twist! Enjoy winter riding and bonfires as well as s'mores on Friday. Please dress warm and layer up! March 16th-20th 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM $585 + HST per Week OR $125.00 + HST per Day Summer Camp: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM Session 1: July 13th-17th Session 2: July 27th-31st Session 3: August 10th-14th Session 4: August 17th-21st $595.00 + HST per Week Extended care is available from 8:00 am - 9:00 am and 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm for an additional $25.00 per morning or afternoon. Extended care arrangements can be made daily with a credit card left on file with our office. Please note: Extended care does not extend your camp day, it is simply extra supervised time at Belle Wood in the event you are unable to pick up or drop off at our camp start and end times. What to Bring An ASTM approved riding helmet for equestrian use is mandatory to be allowed on or near a horse at Belle Wood. Please do not send hockey or bike helmets as these are not certified for equestrian use. Belle Wood has helmet rental available for an additional $30/week. Boots with a 1/4 Inch heel (Rainboots, Blundstones) are also mandatory to ride at Belle Wood for safety purposes. Riding pants, leggings, and jeans are suitable for riding. No baggy sweatpants, as they can be a safety hazard and could get caught on equipment. Riding gloves to protect hands from leather reins Running shoes for games & shorts Bathing suit towel and crocs/fliflops for unicorn sprinkler day Sunscreen, bug spray, hat Lots of water! We are on a well so please send a couple of large water bottles with your camper! We ask campers to do their best to bring a "Litter-less" Lunch if you can as well as snacks for throughout the day. If you wish to purchase your own equestrian items for your camper, please check out Greenhawk (Whitby, Stouffville) or Picov’s (Ajax) to get fitted in your riding gear properly! Frequently Asked Questions How old does my child have to be? We start our camp at ages 7+. What are your bathroom facilities? We have two port-a-potties deep cleaned weekly! We do have running water to wash hands. What happens there is a heat warning or over 25 degrees? The lessons on horseback will be cancelled and replaced with either a trail ride around the property or learning how to do ground work with the horses. This is for both the health and safety of our horses and our campers. What is your max amount of kids per week? Our max amount of campers is 20 per week with 5 students maximum per riding group. Will campers ride the same horse everyday? No, campers will get to experience many different horses and ponies throughout their week! My camper has experience can they still participate in camp? Absolutely! We group our riders by riding experience for riding groups, then by age to create the best camp environment for learning and fun!

Melanie Colwell Christine started riding at the age of 8 and quickly was hooked with the sport. Join our show team and compete in local hunter/jumper shows! Lease a horse to compete with and grow your equestrian skillset.. Show Team & Leasing Increase your time in the tack & at the barn with a competitive focus At Belle Wood, we aim to create well-rounded riders who are focused on horsemanship first. The next step for riders in our lesson program wishing to compete more or spend more time at the barn is to join our show team! Under the coaching of Belinda Logan & Melanie Colwel, our show team currently competes off-property at The Pickering Horse Centre's Show Series and at our own Grass Roots Show Series. In the past, Belinda has taken our show team to Trillium, Silver, and Gold shows and achieved successful results. Belinda has also had the pleasure of taking students on 'showcation' to WEC Ohio, and Wellington, Florida with mentor Grace Wanyura. What is Leasing? Leasing allows riders to enjoy the same horse in all of their lessons, secure the same horse for each Grass Roots Show, have the opportunity to compete off-property without the extra commitment, cost and risk of owning a horse. Why Lease? Leasing is a great way to grow a bond with a specific horse while sharpening your skills multiple times a week, both in lessons and in practice rides. Leasing gives riders more barn time and is a great way to boost confidence, create a sense of responsibility and make new friends. Extra Opportunities Leasers are required to partake in our fall, winter and spring clinics catered towards development and growth with a rotating group of equine professionals. Join Belle Wood Equestrian Centre’s Grass Roots Schooling Show Series for a fun and safe introduction to horse showing. Featuring divisions from leadline to 2'3ft, with Western gaming and in-hand classes. Year-end awards and a laid-back atmosphere for all riders! Belle Wood Equestrian Grass Roots Show Series Dedicated to developing horses & riders since 2023 The Belle Wood Equestrian Centre Grass Roots Schooling Show Series was created to create a fun, safe and laid-back atmosphere to introduce riders to the world of horse showing. A portion of our revenue from this series is donated to The Ajax-Pickering Hospital Foundation to assist in their youth mental health unit. The divisions run from a complementary leadline class all the way to 2'3ft, as well as the addition of Western gaming and in-hand classes.
