Meet Belinda
Situated on 56 acres at the border of Pickering and Whitby, Belle Wood was founded in 2008 by Belinda Logan (née La Belle).
Belinda established Belle Wood with a clear philosophy: to put the horse first while building strong foundations for riders from the very beginning. As a certified Competition Coach, she specializes in developing riders in the hunter, jumper, and equitation disciplines. Her program is driven by a deep commitment to exceptional horsemanship and a strong respect for the sport.
Over the years, Belle Wood has been home to many horses, from valued boarders to those within Belinda’s lesson program. She has guided riders successfully from local schooling shows through to Gold-level competition—and every stage in between.
Belinda is also passionate about creating memorable experiences for her students, including “showcations” to the World Equestrian Center in Ohio and Ocala, Florida.
Belinda and her husband, Patrick, are often joined by their three golden retrievers—Daisy, Duchess, and Duke—who can frequently be found greeting riders and watching lessons as Belinda and Patrick care for the property.

Belle Wood's coaches are all licensed with Equestrian Canada
and are up to date on their first aid.
Our facility is an accredited facility with Ontario Equestrian.
Our range in coaches provides something for everyone-
from beginner riders having their first ride ever, to advanced students looking to show and everyone in between!
Melanie Colwell
Monday, Thursday & Saturday (Mornings) Coach
Show Team Lead
Melanie started riding at a young age and was instantly in love with the sport. Mel grew up grooming on the Trillium Circuit as well as competing on her own young horse she personally brought along. Melanie is an EC Certified Jump Instructor and has a degree in early childhood education. Mel is passionate about putting the horses and safety of her riders first while developing riders ready to conquer their show season goals.
Christine Curtin
Friday Morning Coach
Christine started riding at the age of 8 and quickly was hooked with the sport. Throughout her teen years, Christine showed hunter/jumper divisions on the Trillium Circuit and began teaching new riders.
Christine enjoys seeing her students progress both on the flat and over fences with a strong focus on proper equitation. Christine believes “practice makes progress “ and looks forward to coaching for many more years to come!
Alexis Angrove
Tuesday & Saturday (Afternoons) Coach
Lil Riders & Rising Riders Lead
Alexis grew up riding at Belle Wood, originally in camp and lessons.
Alexis fell in love with the sport and quickly purchased her first horse, Diva.
Alexis then competed with Belinda for several years, moving up onto new horses to compete at larger heights. Alexis has a very successful show record in all three rings (hunter, jumper & equitation).
Outside of coaching and riding, Alexis is busy in the classroom as an early childhood educator or walking her dog Bentley.
