The Belle Wood Equestrian Grass Roots Show Series
is designed for riders and horses who are developing their
skills, building confidence, and taking the next step into the
world of horse showing.
Held at our convenient Pickering, Ontario facility, GRSS offers
a welcoming, beginner-friendly show environment for
Belle Wood riders, off-property competitors, families, and coaches.
Whether this is your rider’s first show or they are returning to work toward their next goal, our focus is on creating an organized, supportive experience where horses and riders come first.
With divisions ranging from a complimentary leadline class through 2'3", GRSS gives riders the opportunity to participate at a level that matches their experience and goals. Riders can develop throughout the season, earn points, and work toward year-end recognition.

Why show at Belle Wood?
A supportive first-show environment
Horse showing can feel intimidating, especially for a rider who is entering the ring for the first time. GRSS is designed to make that first step feel approachable, encouraging, and achievable. Riders receive the opportunity to practise their skills in a real show environment while building confidence at a pace that supports their development. The goal is not perfection—it is helping each horse and rider leave the day feeling proud of what they accomplished.
A show series built for developing riders
Our divisions are designed to support riders as they grow. From leadline and beginner classes through jumping divisions up to 2'3", GRSS provides a pathway for riders with different levels of experience.
Riders can return throughout the season, continue developing their skills, and work toward points and year-end awards.
A welcoming show for coaches and entire teams
Coaches are welcome to bring an entire barn or team to Belle Wood. GRSS provides an opportunity for riders to experience the community and teamwork that make horse showing so meaningful, while coaches support their students throughout the day.
Our goal is to offer a well-run, practical show experience that works for riders, horses, families, and coaches.
A convenient Pickering location
Belle Wood Equestrian is conveniently located in Pickering, Ontario, serving riders and coaches from Durham Region, Markham, York Region, and Toronto’s east end.
A community worth returning to
GRSS is about more than one show day. It is a season of progress, friendships, milestones, and memories made with horses. Riders have the opportunity to return to a familiar, supportive environment as they continue developing their confidence and skills.
Divisions and classes
GRSS divisions are outlined in the current Show Program, including rules, classes, division requirements, and entry information.
Our show series includes classes ranging from a complimentary lead line class through 2'3" divisions.
New for 2026, GRSS includes:
•Intro to Jumpers
•Beginner Crossrails
Intro to Jumpers
The Intro to Jumpers division is designed to introduce riders to the foundations of the jumper ring in a supportive learning environment.
The division includes three rounds. The focus is not on speed or rushing the course. Instead, riders are encouraged to learn how the jumper ring works, develop a confident rhythm, and practise the foundations they will need as they continue progressing.
This makes Intro to Jumpers an excellent opportunity for riders who are ready to explore jumper-style courses while continuing to build their skills and confidence.

Year-end points and member banquet
Every show is part of a bigger journey. Throughout the GRSS season, members have the opportunity to build points, celebrate progress, and work toward year-end recognition alongside their horses, coaches, barn mates, and families.
Members who complete a minimum of three shows earn an invitation to the GRSS Year-End Member Banquet on October 30, 2026.
This is more than the final date on the calendar—it is the celebration at the end of the season. The banquet brings our GRSS community together to recognize the riders who showed up, worked hard, grew in confidence, supported their teammates, and made meaningful progress with their horses.
It is a chance to celebrate the full season: the first entries, the brave rides, the new milestones, the ribbons, the lessons learned, and the people who helped make each show day possible. We look forward to celebrating the dedication, sportsmanship, horsemanship, and community spirit that make the Belle Wood Grass Roots Show Series special.
